I was contacted by Kathy Moya from FICA, Fight Institutional Child Abuse. She informed me of an important woman doing an important thing for the safety of children. Her name is Allison Pinto. She has composed an Open Letter to Congress regarding Institutional Child Abuse. If you wish, you can sign the Open Letter to Congress, as well as an online petition to pass the HR Bill 1738 “End Institutionalized Abuse Against Children Act of 2005″. There is also an article by Allison Pinto explaining the situation right there at that site.
Go HERE to help. We need GOOD, QUALIFIED and LOVING care for our children, troubled or not. We have GOT to do something.
Thank you all,
Allison

Call me cynical, but I really don’t think a petition will help.

Signing a petition at the tiniest CHANCE of saving even ONE LIFE of a child…is worth my time.

Signed and done… Hopefully this petition makes a difference where it counts.

I agree with your response to Christopher. I mean, it only takes a small amount of time to sign. We should all, however, take the time to read it so we know what it’s mission is. I have saved your link and will read it later at which point I will no doubt, sign it.
Thanks for posting it!
Peace……………

Actually, what would be ideal would be to sign the petition and write a letter to your Congressman. Signing is better than doing nothing, and writing a letter is better than just signing. Apathy and inaction will certainly accomplish nothing, at least you can wipe your hands somewhat clean if you do sign and write a letter.

And finally, the mental health community has been working at doing something about this widespread problem- about time! Many have been working alone for a while, but strength in numbers- Dr. Allision Pinto has been a godsend in my eyes.

You’re absolutely right. We’ve got to do something.
We each need a drivers lisence to drive, but any imbecile can breed. Let’s first charge a fee large enough to establish parental commitment. Then let’s require at least two 4-year college degrees and completion in an accreditted course in parenting before conception. Let’s sterilize violators.
Imbecile reduction on a global scale is our only hope. The White House, case-in-point.

Mac, while I understand what you’re trying to get at, not all college grads make good parents, and some of those without the degrees are the best parents.
And who will judge? the GOVERNMENT? God Help us all!
If you want to charge a fee to prove “parental commitment” where does the money go? To line politicians pockets? Or shouldn’t it go to a college fund for the child? If the Government is in charge, it won’t get to your kid, I’ll promise you that!
As for the White House, there needs to be some BLEACH in that gene pool!
