K, I’m so sorry guys. Blah, blah blah I know, you’ve heard it all before. I have 5 weeks til my baby comes, and I’ve been in the hospital and just got out. Kidneys shut down, I think its called Pylo something. Anyway, I am out and posting again. Thanks for waiting.

Since when do they give pregnant women straight up morphine?
Alli Says:
June 13th, 2006 at 2:59 pmVisit Alli
well since you’re obviously someone who reads my other blog (since I did not mention Morphine on THIS blog), M, you read that I have kidney stones and a severe infection somewhere else. As a matter of fact, they give you morphine quite easily in any hospital you go to when you’re in severe enough pain to put your blood pressure so high they admit you on the spot. Also, when you’re in labor, its quite common to get Stadol, Demerol or Morphine in your iv. Thanks for your question, but to answer it honestly, I’m not sure when the first doctor prescribed Morphine to a pregnant woman…maybe in the 50’s? Its quite an old drug.
I actually just googled “Pregnant Kidney Morphine” and found this link http://www.pregnancy-info.net/QA/answers-Kidney_Stones_During_Pregnancy_/ and if you search the page for Morphine, you’ll see that its actually quite common. Good question though.

Hey there. Sorry to read you have been going through such medical issues. Kidney stones are no joke. Is that poly thing where you have a lot of cysts?
I have an old friend who ended up having to have a shunt inserted for the duration of her pregnancy due to issues like this. She was in such horrible agony it made my issues pale by comparison. It makes me feel so sad for you if you are going through anything like that. Did you have this before you got pregnant or do they think it will resolve once you have the baby?
Take care,
Jen
As an aside to M, I was given Morphine several times during my pregnancy (and after even while nursing) for reasons that are noyb. If you do a simple google search on the medication, you could have found out for yourself instead of asking the patient in a seemingly incredulous and disbelieving manner.

Thanks, Jen, for telling your story and defending me. Some people are insensitive like that. That’s mostly the reason I don’t write much anymore. I’m telling MY story and even when I comment on my health, I get crap. Whaddya do except just quit writing, you know? I mean, I don’t go to other people’s sites and criticize their meds, or their lives or their memories. You’ve gotta have a really low self esteem to judge people you don’t know. (Even though I think this person “M” is someone I know. How would they have known about my other private anonymous blog that’s totally new?)
The polycystic ovarian thing is controlled right now while I’m pregnant, but the Pyelonephritis is just a huge word for “kidney infection”… I’m just taking anti-biotics now every day and I’m down to Percocet for pain, when needed. Thanks for your well wishes, Jen and everyone, I’m just praying for a healthy little boy on the 17th of July! Yep, that’s when they’re taking him! Yay! I’ll keep you all informed…

Thought that I would jump on the “morphine” band wagon, and say that while talking to my doctor about pain killers and pregnancy, she told me that most pain meds are prefectly safe for pregnant women.
again, hope you are feeling better!
btw, my b-day is July 16th, so I’ll have a good reminder of when your baby is born, and will be sending “good luck” vibes your way!!

Morphine + pregnancy = I have no clue why some people are surprised by it! My sister as well as my cousin recently had it, and it wasn’t out of the ordinary at all.
Best to you Alli,
K.

Damn… what’s it take for you to have a decent run of good luck? You’ve had some crazy times. You ok?? I know sometimes hospitals tend to kick people out too early… at least they do up here. Hopefully you got the treatment you needed before being discharged. Best of luck on the rest of your pregnancy, Alli. Hopefully it all comes together for you.
Peace,
~Mike

Hang in there…. YOu’ll have your little man in your arms so quickly… Glad you are feeling better there is nothing worse than being sick when so pregnant.
I, like everyone else am eagerly waiting your next installment of this story. But I guess I will have to be patient…
Oh…. I had morphine while breast feeding too. Some people are just out to get others… Ignore their uneducated comments. You know what you had. You know that your baby is none the worse for it. That person really needs to get over it!!

Wow - hope the remainder of your “time waiting” is less eventful! (time waiting is what my MIL called it the last 2 months of all pregnancy’s - because that is basically all your doing).
Hopefully - little one will get here HEALTHY and a few days Early! Mommy get what rest you can (I know with other little ones in the house - that’s not much!)
Looking forward to and dreading the next update all at once! I at least know it has a “happy” ending - with Love and little ones in your future!

I was given stadol while pregnant, and percocet after, while nursing.
as for people being skeptical of your health complications…..suck it! pregnancy is one of the most complicated conditions your body will ever go through. There’s a reason the doctors keep such close tabs on even a healthy woman all throughout her pregnancy. anything can happen at anytime to anyone.

Dont mind the assholes, they just dont know.
I am eagerly awaiting your next post…your story is magnificent! The way you write is so descriptive…
My boyfriend was at Northstar in 1991. He’s told me these stories many a time. They sounded so unbelievable! I was SOOOO wrong. Do you remember a crazy lady who backpacked with her cat-Wallwalker’s wife? Did you guys ever fight over cat food? He said that he knows exactly who you are! You and your escapee friend were famous when he got to Northstar. My boyfriend also claimed to have gotten a camera from the counselors when he was there, but I’ve only seen a few pictures…Do you have any pictures remaining? Please e-mail me, I’d like to know some more….
